OREANDA-NEWS. February 11, 2010. At Tomsk Electromechanical Plant Mr Medvedev examined samples of mining equipment produced at the plant.

The President also visited an exhibition of products from companies operating in the Tomsk special economic zone. There he examined a range of medical equipment for heart surgery, samples of intelligent control systems for oil and gas sector, microwave electronic telecommunications equipment, in particular the mobile communication system based on KAMAZ vehicles for setting up high-speed digital RRL (radio relay link) and broadband Internet access.

During his meeting with Governor of Tomsk Region Viktor Kress, President Medvedev called on the Governor to create more small businesses within the region’s universities. This would solve the problem of graduate employment and help the development of an innovation economy, Mr Medvedev said. Governor Kress informed the President that up to date 26 such companies have been created.

Dmitry Medvedev also laid a wreath at the Monument to Combat and Labour Glory.
