OREANDA-NEWS. February 12, 2010. Freight One hauled more than 628,500 tons of various types of freight on the Far Eastern Railway in January 2010. The increase compared to January 2008 was 53%.

Most of the increase in traffic was in covered cars, tankers and gondolas (+82%, +62% and +24% respectively compared to January 2008).

There was an increase in the transport of oil and petroleum products from 282,000 tons in January 2009 to 457,000 tons in January 2010. Coal haulage increased from 84,400 tons to 120,000 tons. The haulage of non-ferrous ore increased fourfold from 6,300 tons to 25,800 tons.

"Despite the overall decline in rail freight traffic that is typical for January, we were able to maintain the rising trend in loading that we achieved in 2009," said Vladivostok branch director Viktor Osipov. "The increase in traffic is due primarily to the expansion of the branch’s customer base".
