OREANDA-NEWS. February 12, 2010. Freight One began hauling Tuvan coking coal for the first time in January 2010. The first run, under an agreement with Polygon-Resource LLC, amounted to 4,000 tons. The coal is delivered to the Kaa-Khemsky deposit in the Republic of Tuva by dump trucks to Minusinsk Station in Krasnoyarsk Territory, from where it is loaded in Freight One cars. The coal haulage is expected to be increased to 5000 tons in February. Freight One hauls the Tuvan coking coals to the Belovskaya Coal Enrichment Plant in Kemerovo Region.

The haulage project is unique to the economy of the Republic of Tuva, which has no railway connections to other regions of Russia. Thanks to Freight One, the highly sintered coking coals that are mined at the Kaa-Khemsky Mine, the largest mine in the republic, are sold nationwide. The coal is hauled in trucks on the Yenisey Highway (Route M—54), the only federal highway in Tuva, to Minusinsk Station on the Krasnoyarsk Railway.

Freight One plays a key role in hauling Tuvan coking coals thanks to its high-level logistics and strong position in the regional market. Freight One’s share in gondola coal traffic on the Krasnoyarsk Railway, where the Tuvan coal is loaded in Freight One gondolas, increased by 9.8% by the end of 2009.
