OREANDA-NEWS. February 12, 2010. Freight One increased its haulage on the Gorky Railway to four million tons in 2009.

More than 69,000 freight cars owned by Freight One were loaded in the branch’s area of responsibility. Tanks, primarily for carrying petrochemicals, accounted for half of the haulage, while cement accounted for a quarter of it (17,000 freight cars).

The branch saw a significant positive trend in the use of gondolas and boxcars. They were hardly used at all in 2008, but the branch has been actively signing contracts for their use. To date, more than 5000 gondolas and 10,000 boxcars have been loaded and sent.

The proportions of the freight types being hauled have changed as the market has expanded. The branch’s customer base increased more than five times last year. The branch has customers in virtually all industries. In 2009, the branch proved that not only can it handle large volumes of freight for customers on the Gorky Railway, but also satisfy its partners’ needs for one-time and non-standard dispatches. The branch accounted for 11% of the loadings on the Gorky Railway in 2009.

"The company’s management set for us the objective of increasing the branch’s presence in the region by the end of 2010 to 25% from today’s 11%. I think the branch is quite capable of this," said branch director Alexander Kornyshev.
