OREANDA-NEWS. February 18, 2010. At the Nizhne-Shapshinskoye oilfield (OAO NK “RussNeft”) in KhMAO one could watch the launch of the first stage (17mW) of  autonomous gas piston power plant. The launch of the power plant is the most important stage of the joint project within the frames of the memorandum signed in March 2008 between OOO “Monolit”, OAO NK “RussNeft” and Salym Petroleum Development N.V. (SPD) on setting up a complex for utilization of associated petroleum gas (APG) and generating facilities, total capacity 44 MW.

Putting the power plant into operation will fully provide for electric power demand of Shapshinskaya group of oilfields of the producing company of OAO NK “RussNeft” – OAO NAK “Aki-Otyr”. Implementation of the project  will permit to reduce substantially hazardous emissions into the air and will promote rational utilization of the natural raw material – associated petroleum gas. At that commercial efficiency of the project will be gained by way of selling extra power to other consumers.

Besides,  together with the power plant the joint project includes construction of a gas processing plant (GPP) at Zapadno-Salymskoye oilfield and two pipelines connecting GPP and the power plant. Implementation of this project will permit to reach the level of 95% APG utilization in conformity with license agreements of the companies SPD and OAO NAK “Aki-Otyr”.
