OREANDA-NEWS. February 18, 2010. On March 1, the first in the 2010 series of Energy Round Tables organized by the EU-Ukraine Business Council will take place in Brussels. The events are sponsored by a leading privately-owned fuel and energy company of Ukraine, DTEK. The media partners will be Brussels media covering the activities of European institutions:  New Europe, The Parliament Magazine and EUobserver.com.

The external environment stirs up interest in the event: the presidential elections have been concluded and Ukraine is ready to take further practical steps to continue the process of reform and stimulate economic growth following a period of recession. Bilateral negotiations are being held between Ukraine and the EU regarding the Association Agreement. A large-scale energy efficiency and environmental partnership for Eastern Europe was launched by the European Union. Within its framework a pledging conference of Swedish initiative donors took place in Stockholm on November 26, 2009. The adopted platform will work to harmonize the partners’ energy policies and legislation with the effective EU regulatory framework. The objective of this multi-lateral cooperation is support for the development of infrastructure, interconnection of energy systems and diversification of supplies.

On March 1, 2010, in Brussels the Round Table organizers will bring together an authoritative team of experts to discuss deeper integration of Ukraine in the EU’s Energy Policy and energy business development. The meeting participants will also review the impact of technology trends on the sector development and analyze what changes in policy and legislation may be needed to bring these opportunities to fruition. Chief Financial Officer of DTEK, Yuriy Ryzhenkov, will represent the company at the Round Table.
