OREANDA-NEWS. February 27, 2010. A delegation of the Federal Antimonopoly Service (FAS Russia) visited Paris (France) to participate in competition events of the Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD). As part of the visit, on 15th February 2010, Andrey Tsyganov, Deputy Head of FAS Russia, took part in the international conference "New Frontiers of Antitrust", reported the press-centre of FAS Russia.

The conference brought together heads of the leading competition authorities from different countries and renowned experts of the international competition community. In particular, the conference heard Mr. Joaqu?n Alm?nia, the new European Commissioner on Competition, Mrs. Christine Varney, Assistant Attorney General for Antitrust, the US Department of Justice, Fr?d?ric Yves Jenny, Chairman of the OECD Competition Law and Policy Committee, as well as representatives of British and French competition authorities, etc.

The conference had the following agenda:

- approximating antimonopoly laws of different countries;

- market analysis: introducing amendments to the antimonopoly laws;

- behavioral economics, in particular, the fundamental principles of antitrust policy;

- fitness of heavy sanctions;

- rating of competition authorities.

In general, FAS Russia's participation in such events strengthens the influence of the Russian Federation among competition authorities of different countries and helps developing relationship with the leading experts on competition policy.
