OREANDA-NEWS. February 27, 2010. Transaero has announced its operational results for January 2010. The results demonstrate the airlines tradition of stable growth and particular growth for all its January figures. Transaero continues to maintain its position as Russia’s second-largest airline.

In January 2010:

Revenue passenger-kilometers (RPK) came to 1.99 billion, 61.4 % more than for the same period last year

The airline transported 411,173 passengers, 64.3% more than in January 2009

Revenue ton-kilometers (RTK) came to 189 million, 59.7% over January 2009 figures

Transaero delivered 1,718 tons of mail and cargo, 28.6% more than in January 2009

In January 2010 the number of transported passengers on domestic flights increased 47.7% and 67.8% on international flights in comparison with the same period of last year. The volume of transit passengers increased 48% due to the development of Transaero’s within – Russia route network.

Appraising the performance results for January, Transaero General Director Olga Pleshakova remarked: “This January we have shown significant growth on both domestic and international routes. This indicates a post-crisis mentality among our passengers who are now flying more both for business and leisure. At the same time, Transaero’s pricing policy is aimed at ensuring affordable air transportation for all categories of our passengers".
