OREANDA-NEWS. February 27, 2010. CenterTelecom OJSC reports that its General Director Vaagn Martirosyan has taken part in a conference "Telecommunications Industry: Coping with Global Financial Crisis Impact and Setting Further Development Tasks." The conference has been held in Moscow; it was organized by Russia's Ministry of Telecommunications and Mass Media.

Among 150 conference participants were senior managers of telecommunications operators, producers and suppliers of telecommunications equipment, representatives of state organizations and research institutions. The conference's topics included various issues related to global crisis's impact on Russian telecommunications market in 2009, as well as matters connected to modernization of domestic telecommunications system.

According to Mr. Martirosyan who heads the biggest telecommunications operator in Russia's Central Federal District, the situation in Central Russia's telecommunications market for 2009 did not change significantly despite complicated economic conditions. He said: "As before CenterTelecom demonstrates stable growth of its subscriber base and key financial indicators. In 2009 the company has formed a special committee for coping with impact of economic instability. The committee included CenterTelecom's senior managers and chiefs of the company's key departments. Among the committee's tasks were formation of a plan aimed at decrease of financial crisis's impact and fulfillment of the plan."

According to Mr. Martirosyan, the factors contributing to the company's stable development for 2009 included expansion of CenterTelecom product range, opening and modernization of the company's points of sales and maintenance in Central Federal Districts' localities, putting of a Unified Customer Relations Center into operation, increase of network infrastructure's transmission capacity and aggressive promotion of broadband Internet access services. In conclusion Mr. Martirosyan said: "CenterTelecom's priorities in 2010 are focused on improvement of the services' quality and extended options allowing to provide newest telecommunications services in the territory of Central Federal District. Our results for 2009 allowed us to set a number of priority tasks which are to be accomplished this year. We can say that we have all possible resources to achieve these goals."
