OREANDA-NEWS. February 27, 2010. AN-225 Mriya, the biggest transport aircraft in the world, of Antonov Airlines transported the oversized building vehicles (bulldozers, lorries, tractors, loaders) for elimination of the earthquake consequences on Haiti. Cargo weighing 108 t was delivered from Tokyo (Japan) to Santo-Domingo (Dominican Republic) by request of Japanese government and then was transported by ground – to Port-au-Prince, the capital of Haiti. Mriya had been chosen taking into account necessity to provide urgent delivery. Its spacious cargo cabin solely could accommodate such a big cargo. The AN-124-100 Ruslan would be able to transport that technique in two flights only.

That Mriya’s flight became the first one in the big programme on delivery of the oversized building technique by request of the government of Japan.
