OREANDA-NEWS. March 9, 2010. Enel OGK-5 has unveiled its 2009 operating results.

Power generation by Enel OGK-5’s power plants in 2009 totalled 41 365 GWh, posting a slight decrease (-3.8%) versus the figure posted in 2008. Enel OGK-5  reduction in power generation is mainly attributable to the general downturn in the country’s electricity consumption and it is still moderate if compared with general indicators showing a decrease in energy consumption in UES Centre (-4.2%), in UES Ural (-6%) and in UES South (-4%), where the Company’s power plants are located.

Efficiency in power energy generation increased by 1%.

Power generation volumes were positively affected by the improvement of the availability ratio of the plants from 77.8% up to 82.5%, thanks to the maintenance optimization programme being implemented in the Company as well as reduction in equipment failure by 27%.

The share of coal-fired Reftinskaya GRES in the overall power generation totalled 51.2% (versus 48.8% posted in 2008). Reftinskaya GRES was the main contributor to the increase of the Company’s production volumes in the second half of 2009.

Power sales by the Company totalled 45 534 GWh, with 44.1% of sales going to the free market.

Heat sales by the Company totalled 6 774 thousand Gcal, keeping in line with the level registered in the previous year.
