OREANDA-NEWS. March 9, 2010. Eurasian Development Bank (EDB) signed a credit agreement with OAO SUEK as part of an investment project aimed at reequipping surface coal mines in Siberia. Under the signed agreement the Bank will arrange to loan SUEK USD 55mln for 5 years.

Financial resources of EDB will be used to buy 25 new BeLAZ dump trucks with the haul capacity of up to 220 tonnes to be operated at surface coal mines in Khakassia, Buryatia and the Kemerovo Region.

Reequipment is a prerequisite of efficiency and improvement of SUEK performance indicators. Byelorussian equipment to be bought under the project is highly productive and will ensure development of coal producing capacities.

The project will substantially boost the sustainable economic growth in Siberian regions, and will be conducive to the increase in the volume of mutual trade between the Russian Federation and the Republic of Belarus.
