OREANDA-NEWS. March 15, 2010. Refinery in Mazeikiai owned by ORLEN Lietuva announces about the short-term shutdown to perform complex maintenance of the Refinery’s process equipment from Monday, 15 March, until the end of the month. Nevertheless, the Company will completely ensure supply of the products to market from the earlier accumulated stocks.

Maintenance activities will include inspection and repairs of the Refinery’s installations with replacement of spent catalyst and cleaning of piping as well as equipment.

“The activities scheduled for the shutdown will help in increasing efficiency of the Refinery, ensuring continuous operation of the Refinery and its complete readiness for the fuel consumption peak”, told General Director of AB ORLEN Lietuva Krystian Pater.

Short period of shutdown versus the large scope of works forced the Company to thoroughly plan out the process of maintenance activities. Approximately 1,200 employees from 32 contracting organizations of Lithuania, Poland, Germany and Russia will be engaged in the maintenance activities which will last for 17 days.

Despite the shutdown, AB ORLEN Lietuva will ensure continuous supply of fuel for its customers from the accumulated inventories.

“The accumulated volume of petroleum products will be sufficient for the total shutdown period. We can assure the continuous supply of fuel satisfying demand of all our clients”, pointed out the Company’s General Director.

Previous turnaround which was completed in autumn of 2007 was the largest turnaround in the history of Mazeikiai Refinery.
