OREANDA-NEWS. March 19, 2010. The corporate university of the Company has started its work. DTEK Academy will be a common centre for knowledge management at all the enterprises of the Company, where 50 thousand people work.

DTEK Academy will train about 1.5 thousand of the best employees of the energy holding company under specialized programmes each year. The top managers of DTEK and PhDs of the leading Ukrainian and European business schools will hold classes.

The concept of DTEK Academy is based on a role model that is designed to develop four levels of intelligence: IQ (intellectual and logical), EQ (emotional), LQ (learning), and SQ (social).

Thus, programmes of the first level (IQ development), which are aimed at the development of knowledge and skills required to work in an up-to-date business organization, will be for all DTEK employees. To put this training system in practice, e-learning techniques will be widely applied and internal coaches (company’s employees who act as on-the-job coaches) will be actively engaged.

EQ programmes — ‘Power of Knowledge’ — are intended for the employees selected to the talent pool upon the results of annual personnel appraisal and additional assessment procedures (Development Centre). Training sessions for this group are orientated towards the enhancement of personal efficiency with human resources and business processes management. Both top managers of the Company and lecturers of national business schools will be involved into the training process.

The programme called the Energy of Leader (LQ development) is designed for the employees enrolled to the TOP 50 programmes (selection and preparation of successors for top positions). The objective of training for this group is to develop capabilities to implement innovative cross-functional projects with a number of different resources involved. Classes for these students will be also held by DTEK managers and professors of international business schools.

The development of social intelligence (SQ) will help DTEK top managers to secure continuity at the Company and cherish future generations of DTEK management.
DTEK is the first private vertically-integrated power company in Ukraine. It is part of the financial and industrial group System Capital Management (SCM). The enterprises of DTEK build up an efficient operational chain of coal production and enrichment, electricity generation and distribution.

The coal business of DTEK includes Pavlogradugol (consisting of ten coal mines), Komsomolets Donbassa Mine and five enrichment plants. According to 2009 performance results, the DTEK’s share in the Ukrainian coal mining industry was 24.4%.

The generation business of DTEK is represented by Vostokenergo and the associated Dneproenergo Company, in which DTEK owns 47.5%. According to 2009 performance results, the share of Vostokenergo and Dneproenergo in thermal generation of Ukraine was 25.3% and 20.5% respectively.

Service-Invest and Energougol ENE represent the electricity distribution business of DTEK. Their share of electricity purchase in SE Energorynok in 2009 made 7.7%.
