OREANDA-NEWS. April 14, 2010.  GLONASS equipment has been already installed on 750 passenger transport vehicles which service 39 routes in St. Petersburg.

By the end of the year, navigation satellite communication with the city’s monitoring center will be introduced for about 1,000 buses and all trolley-buses in trams in St. Petersburg.
The electronic system will maintain monitoring of the proper routing by the drivers, and to respond promptly to passenger traffic. So, satellite coverage won’t be maintained only for private transport companies, which are planned to get GLONASS’ed by 2012.
