OREANDA-NEWS. April 16, 2010. In order to enhance industrial cooperation, Belarus and Ukraine have agreed to establish a number of joint companies and enter the markets of third countries, co-chairmen of the Belarusian-Ukrainian intergovernmental commission for trade and economic cooperation Vladimir Semashko and Andrei Kliuyev told media after the commission session in Kyiv.

Such cooperation is mutually beneficial and promising, the co-chairmen believe. Assembly of harvesters at the Kherson machinery plant is among the most important projects. Gomselmash and Lidagroprommash may take part in this project since both companies manufacture farm machinery.

First Deputy Prime Minister of Belarus Vladimir Semashko said that although such projects are not new for Belarus (near 55% of Belarus-made harvesters are exported), this one is rather promising. Vladimir Semashko believes the Ukrainian government will render assistance in implementation of this project.

Vladimir Semashko also focused on another Belarusian-Ukrainian joint project – a company manufacturing railroad passenger cars. The project will be implemented by the Gomel car-repair works and the Kryukivsky carriage works. “Belarus has no need in railroad freight cars (as of today there are three plants manufacturing such carriages in Belarus). But we are ready to consider the establishment of a joint company manufacturing passenger cars with such reliable partners as the Kryukivsky carriage works,” Vladimir Semashko said.

First Deputy Prime Minister of Ukraine Andrei Kliuyev, in turn, stressed the importance and promising outlook of the industrial cooperation between the two countries and confirmed that Ukraine is ready to take active part in the implementation of the intended projects.

During the Kyiv session of the Belarusian-Ukrainian intergovernmental commission for trade and economic cooperation, the sides have agreed to draft a list of companies that manufacture joint products in order to expand the number of joint companies in future.
