OREANDA-NEWS. April 21, 2010. OJSC Varyoganneftegaz (a subsidiary of TNK-BP) has resumed development drilling at the Severno-Khokhryakovskoe field. This is one of the company’s largest licence blocks, with residual recoverable reserves of round 50 million tons of oil. Drilling at the Severo-Khokhryakovskoe field was suspended in 2002 to devise an efficient development plan, reported the press-centre of TNK-BP.

The first new production well – No.3000 at well cluster No.39B – was drilled in early April and has now been completed. Well log data indicate that the site has good potential and confirm the prospects for further drilling. A good oil flow-rate will mean that development drilling can be continued with confidence at the Severo-Khokhryakovskoe field.
