OREANDA-NEWS. April 22, 2010. The EU mission for regional development is set to visit Belarus next week, attache of the EC delegation to Belarus Janis Aizsalnieks told media.

“A mission from Brussels will travel to Minsk next week. It is set to hold negotiations with the Belarusian government on the 2012-2013cooperation prospects,” Janis Aizsalnieks said. In his words, the talks will also cover the issues regarding regional cooperation. “It is a wide notion that includes both the economic development and environmental protection,” he noted.

In his words, sustainable development is one of the EU top priorities, is an issue of current importance.

Janis Aizsalnieks added that during the visit the mission of the EU experts is expected to discuss the cooperation prospects with representatives of the Belarusian regions. The mission will pay a visit to the Gomel oblast. “While in Belarus we will interact with our international partners, including UNDP, other international organizations,” he said.
