TEO Provides Digital Television Interactive GALA Service
OREANDA-NEWS. May 11, 2010. TEO LT, AB, the largest provider of integrated telecommunication, IT and TV services in Lithuania, has provided the users of the digital television Interactive GALA service with the possibility to watch many of their favourite TV programs at desired times. Starting from Tuesday, the updated My TV Recordings service will allow, without using any extra equipment, to record TV programs or films available on 77 channels and watch them later.
In their records archive, customers will be able to save 40 sporting events, news programs or films, which will be available for unlimited watching for 8 days, with the options of fast-forwarding, playbacking or stopping just like with a conventional video player. Free access to the My TV Recordings service will be available to all Interactive GALA TV customers, who order the Monthly Video-On-Demand service.
According to Nerijus Ivanauskas, Chief Marketing Officer of TEO, My TV Recordings is the first service of this type in Lithuania. “Interactive television allows customers, who are planning their leisure time, to avoid the need to buy recording equipment, and not to miss the most important or most interesting shows or films”, - N. Ivanauskas said.
According to the data of TEO researches, approximately 86 per cent residents of Lithuania would like to use the service, which allows watching recorded popular TV programs at convenient times.
Digital television Interactive GALA services, provided to residential and business customers, are used by more than 58 thousand customers. A third of them order additional channel packages, every seventh uses the Virtual Video-On-Demand service, and almost every fifth plays games on a TV screen.
TEO also provides the Digital GALA TV service, broadcasted via digital terrestrial (DVB-T) networks. More than 47 thousand of the country’s residents have already become users of this service, which is provided in nearly the whole of Lithuania. They can watch almost 40 channels in Lithuanian, English, Russian and other languages.
