OREANDA-NEWS. May 25, 2010. First-quarter net loss of Shipping Company Volga Shipping amounted to 242,378 million rubles, a 43.5% spike from O1, 2009. Revenues totaled 9.295 million rubles, down 5.8 times from last year’s number, the Company financial statement said.

In 2009 the company earned a net income of USD 435.949 million rubles. That was 2.9 times as much year-over-year. 2009’s revenue fell by 15.3%, to 3,395,609,000 rubles.

Shipping Company Volga Shipping is one of the largest and oldest Russian shipping companies (in 2008 the VS Company celebrated its 165th anniversary). The Company transports freight, passengers on inland waterways of the country. Last year the Company carried 4.5 million tons of cargo and 359,000 passengers. The Volga Shipping owns and operates its fleet of 250 cargo carriers and passenger ships.
