OREANDA-NEWS. June 11, 2010. Grain growers of Dashoguz Velayat have started winter crops harvesting campaign that is in full swing throughout the country. The sowing area in the northern region of the country occupies over 180,000 hectares. The choice of the area and wheat varieties sown in the region was conditioned by the local soil and climatic conditions. The most of this area was sown with the high-yielding wheat varieties such as Sahrai, Djuvan, Yubileynaya-100 and Batko. This season grain growers of Dashoguz Velayat are to harvest 300,000 tons of grain.

To fulfill the task 350 Case and John Deer grain combines and over 1,400 trucks are engaged in the harvest campaign in the region. The favourable working conditions were created for combine operators and drivers so that they will effective use agricultural machines and equipment to reap rich harvest without losses in the shortest period of time.

Wheat will be delivered to 32 receiving points that have the laboratories where the representatives of the Turkmenstandartlary State Service will test the quality of grain round-the-clock. 3 elevators, 2 flour mills and all granaries in Dashoguz are ready to receive new harvest.

The accounts with grain growers will be settled at the local branches of Dayhkanbank where grain growers can promptly receive payments for harvested and delivered crop.

In the northern region of the country grain growers of the Zahmetkesh farmers association in Boldumsaz Etrap were the first to start the harvest campaign. The seminar that brought together the heads of velayat and etrap khyakimliks, subdivisions of the Turkmengallaonumlery and Turkmenobahyzmat Associations, Turkmenstandartlary Sttae Service, agricultural specialists, machine operators and grain growers was held there.

By tradition, the elders blessed the start of the campaign by mowing down the first reaped ears and presenting the sheaves to combine operators. The first tons of grain have been delivered to the receiving points of Dashoguz.

The exhibition of agricultural equipment and products of the processing industry of the agro industrial complex of Turkmenistan was arranged in the Zahmetkesh farmers association. The local artists and artistic groups of the velayat performed a bright concert to mark the start of the harvest campaign.
