OREANDA-NEWS. June 17, 2010. Three new satellites will add to GLONASS in August, thus completing the orbital constellation.
DG and General Designer of Russian Space Systems company Yury Urlichich told Vesti.ru that two cluster launches each of three satellites are planned this year to enhance GLONASS. In addition, new-generation spacecraft Glonass-K will undergo flight testing.

Today, the navigation system covers all Russia. World leaders produce GLONASS/GPS navigators.

“GLONASS penetrates into all spheres of our life. For example, it’s mobile phoning, which is maintained by basic stations. These stations are to be synchronized through GLONASS”.

GLONASS is developed under the Federal Special Program effective till 2011. Evolution of the system is to be covered by a new program, effective since 2012, which would imply deployment of a new orbital constellation with Glonass-K satellites.
