OREANDA-NEWS. June 21, 2010. InterRao, Russian sole operator of electrical energy export and import, lays a claim to being a trader of the Turkish first nuclear power plant which will be constructed by the Russian party.

InterRao has already conducted preliminary negotiations with Tetas, a Turkish power company. In autumn of 2010 the parties are going to sign a long-term agreement on supply of the plant electrical energy, stated Reauters, the Russian company information provider: “InterRAO is going to become a commercial trader of Turkish NPP and to export electrical energy of the nuclear power plant. According to him the companies have agreed on many contract “provisions”, but this document requires ratification by Turkish Parliament.

InterRAO will apparently join the project company (which will possess the power plant) as a trader. On May 12th, without any tender Turkey granted Russia the right to build the first Turkish nuclear power plant; the plant construction may cost for investors about 20 billion dollars. In trade for this, the plant will be owned by a syndicate in which the Russian party will get control and 49% of which will be given to the involved investors.
