OREANDA-NEWS. June 22, 2010. Alexander Vylkul, the chairman of the Dnepropetrovsk regional state administration, visited the construction site of the electric arc furnace Interpipe Steel. During the visit, the governor reviewed the electric arc furnace, saw the assembling of the steel-smelting arc furnace and withdrawal-straighting aggregate as well as viewed the installation of the continuous billet casting machine (CBCM 1, CBCM 2) and gas cleaning equipment.

Alexander Vylkyl also examined the new warehouse of ferroalloys, where work on assembling two bridge cranes has finished. At a meeting with the management of Interpipe Steel, the governor discussed the current status of the project and became better acquainted with the building plan of the industrial site.

 Alexander Vylkyl emphasized the importance of Interpipe Steel for the socio-economical development of the region: “Thanks to Interpipe’s investment projects, metallurgy in our region will reach a new level of competitiveness in a few years. Moreover, as the mill starts operation it will substantially increase the annual budget deductions, create new jobs and significantly improve the ecological situation in the region.”

Gennadiy Esaulov, Director of Interpipe Steel, said: “Interpipe Steel is a modern enterprise where progressive experience in energy saving and environmental protection is implemented. During the mill’s construction, international patents have been used to provide for the effective usage of energy. The implementation of new, modern techniques will ensure that production corresponds to international standards of quality.”

The construction of Interpipe Steel will result in a reduction of gross atmospheric emission of harmful substances by 2.6 times and a decrease in natural gas usage of 87 million m3 a year.
