OREANDA-NEWS. June 22, 2010. On Saturday (June 12) at approx.3 pm, at the newly renovated Pomeranian Embankment  of the Port of Gdynia, will dock one of the largest and most beautiful sailing ships of the world -the Kruzensztern . This four-mast, second largest in the world sailing ship built in 1926 by a German J.C.Tecklenborg shipyard in Wasermьnde will be available to the public from 17th June.

Kruzensztern initially under the name of Padwa sailed as a cargo ship, and now functions as the training vessel of the Ministry of Marine Fisheries. The vessel sails under the flag of Russia. The height of its masts reaches 50 m, and the length of the hull is more than 114,4 m.

Great sailing ship visits the Port of Gdynia due the ship-race for the cup of Kruzensztern, on the Baіtyjsk-Gdynia sea-route, that  takes place on the 20 anniversary of the cross-border cooperation between the Russian Federation and the Poland.

Kruzensztern will be available to visitors at the Pomeranian Embankment on:
- June 12 (Saturday),from 6 pm to 8 pm;
- June 13 (Sunday), from noon to 7 pm;
- June 15 (Tuesday), from 10 am to 7 pm;
- June 16 (Wednesday), from 10 am to 7 pm;
- June 17 (Thursday), from 10 am to 1 pm.

On Monday (14 June), the ship will be towed to the Fishing Boat Embankment opposite the recently renovated Pomeranian Embankment, and the Stena Baltica ferry will take its place, where between 10 am and 6 pm, an Open Day on its board is organized.

During the Open Ship  event it will be possible to visit the captain's bridge, which on a daily basis is not available to visitors, try the Swedish specialties at the restaurant and shop at the store where the prices of cosmetics and perfumes are lower to as much as 30% from the prices on land. The visitors may also enjoy  discounts on vacations.

This year's Open Day is an unique event, because we will have the last opportunity to visit the ferry Stena Baltica. The owner of Stena Line plans to replace the ferry with a newer, larger ferry, in early 2011.  Stena Line organizes the Open Ship event for the fourth time. Each time the event has a huge success. In 2009, the Stena Baltica has welcomed on board more than 8,000 people.
