OREANDA-NEWS. July 01, 2010. Freight One’s Rostov branch loaded 24,200 wagons in May, the highest result posted since the branch opened in 2008 and breaking the previous record of 22,558 cars set in June 2009

The Rostov branch loaded nearly 1.6 million tons in May, an increase of 13% over May 2009.

An increase in loading over the same period of last year occurred in almost all types of rolling stock: In boxcars the increase was 74%, tanks 15%, cement cars 13.5% and mineral cars 13%.

The loading of gondolas also reached a record high of 9355 gondolas in May. According to Vadim Zhukov, Director of Freight One’s Rostov branch, this was primarily due to an increase in the haulage of inert construction materials and freight in a circular route from stations of the Belorechensk hub of the North-Caucasian Railway to the stations of the Black Sea coast for the construction of facilities in Sochi. More than 4500 cars were sent in May on this route.
