OREANDA-NEWS. July 01, 2010. President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov received Yuri Shafrannik, Chairman of the Union of Oil and Gas Producers of Russia in his residence at the Serdar Hotel.

Taking an opportunity, the guest heartily and cordially congratulated the Turkmen leader on his birthday and wished every success in his versatile activity and all undertaking of the wellbeing and happiness of the Turkmen people.

Thanking for the heartfelt wishes, the Turkmen leader expressed gratitude to the head of the largest Russian company for active assistance in training Turkmen specialists at the leading higher educational institutions in Russia. In this regard Yu. Shafrannik informed the President of Turkmenistan of the intention to maintain this practice in compliance with the scale and priorities of Turkmenistan’s social and economic development and the Turkmen leader’s recommendations.

During the meeting the areas of cooperation to be developed through using vast opportunities opened up by Turkmenistan’s strategy for modernizing and diversifying the fuel and energy sector were discussed. Noting that the new world market trends included the development of the oil and gas industry, Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov suggested that the Russian partner draft the concrete proposals for cooperation in this sector through applying the existing experience, advanced technologies and state-of-the-art equipment.

Expressing gratitude for granting confidence to the Union of Oil and Gas Producers, Yu. Shafrannik said that Russian oil and gas producers were keenly interested in new joint projects with Turkmenistan and reaffirmed their readiness to expand on the very promising Turkmen market.

In conclusion the President and his guest exchanged the wishes of every success in the activity aimed at strengthening the ties of traditional friendship and mutually advantageous cooperation between Turkmenistan and Russia.
