OREANDA-NEWS. July 02, 2010. The lifting of 50 % amine regeneration column for sulfur production has taken place on June 18 on the construction site of Oil Refining and Petrochemical Complex. It is already the third heavy haul equipment erected during this month. Day before, 40% amine regeneration column was installed and week before – the similar one was lifted.

Sulfur block – is one of the important process chain within the Oil Refining and Petrochemical Complex. It is designed for hydrogen sulfide extraction from oil products and production of granulated sulfur, a marketable product which further will be sailed on onshore and offshore markets.

In total 16 columns will be operated on the Sulfur block. Today the last one was installed. Practically all the columns are large sized and they were lifted by SOPiG - company specializing on lifting and mechanical installation works and which has great experience on the Project of the Century.

The lifting of the 50% amine regeneration column weighing 63 tons (36 meters high, diameter -3,3 meters) was performed by means of two cranes LIEBHERR with lifting capacity 220 and 350 tons. The coordination of two hoists operation with the accuracy of millimeters during the lifting of heavy haul equipment from horizontal to vertical position and its installation on the foundation was the most complicated activity. 50 % amine regeneration column and another two 40% amine regeneration columns were fabricated on the OJSC Uralkhimmash. The assembly of the equipment was completed on TANECO construction site by means of Khimmashmontazh.

Next week the Project of the Century will witness another two important events – the Separator, with 186 tons weight will be erected on the Flare facility and Waste Heat Boiler weighing 121 tons will be installed on Sulfur production unit.
