OREANDA-NEWS. July 07, 2010. BPS-Bank and American Express announced a partnership that will see BPS-Bank acquire merchants on to the American Express merchant network in Belarus. The agreement was signed and will go into effect from the beginning of 2011, reported the press-centre of BPS-Bank.

Vasili Matyushevski, Chairman of the Board, BPS-Bank, stated, “I am delighted that American Express has selected BPS-Bank as its exclusive acquiring partner in the Republic of Belarus. We view this partnership as another milestone in our retail strategy that is aimed at bringing a new, premium level of service and quality to our merchants.”

Pascal Guignard, Vice President and General Manager, American Express Global Network Services, Europe, Middle East and Africa region, commented, “BPS-Bank has an outstanding reputation and, by combining the strengths of our two organisations, we are set to establish and significantly expand the presence of the American Express merchant network and brand presence in Belarus. In addition, we look forward to working closely with BPS-Bank to further grow and develop the payments industry in this important market.”

As part of the agreement, BPS-Bank will serve as the exclusive merchant acquirer and processor of American Express transactions in Belarus and will be responsible for managing all aspects of the merchant relationship, from acquisitions through to statements and marketing activities. As a result of this agreement, American Express Cardmembers will also have access to BPS-Bank’s ATM network in Belarus.
