OREANDA-NEWS. July 19, 2010. The engineers of OJSC Gazprom have started the pre-construction activities at one of the Olympic venues – a 1100-capacity Olympic village. It will be constructed at the Psekhako Ridge in close proximity to the integrated cross-country skiing and biathlon arena.

The Olympic village infrastructure will consist of a 278-bed hotel complex, apart-hotels for 564 people and a cluster of cottages for 260 people.

Matvei Geller, Chief of special projects and research at the Information and Communications Department of OJSC Gazprom, has emphasized that the company “spares no efforts to provide the athletes with first-class accommodation facilities during the Olympics”. “Biathlon and cross-country skiing teams will be accommodated here,” he said. “It’s important that the Olympic village is being built near the pistes. The athletes’ accommodation will be within walking or skiing distance from the starting and finishing areas.”
