OREANDA-NEWS. July 29, 2010. The Government of Azerbaijan expands bilateral negotiations with the members of the World Trade Organization (WTO) within the process of gaining membership in the Organization.

Deputy foreign minister Makhmud Mammadguliyev of Azerbaijan says that during last week’s visit to Geneva the Azerbaijani delegation met with representatives of China.

"There we discussed issues of mutual interest in the context of relations within the WTO,” he said.

Bipartite talks of Azerbaijan with the European Union, India and other countries were conducted in Geneva in the light of Azerbaijan’s updated services proposals for the WTO members.

Azerbaijan has been a WTO observer since 1997 and earlier aspired to finish full membership negotiations in 2009. Currently such forecasts are not made.
