OREANDA-NEWS. August 04, 2010. JSC “Aeroflot - Russian Airlines” offers a new service: passengers can now check-in for flights using cell phones. As a result of check-in, an image of the boarding pass will be displayed on the phone screen as a 2D barcode together with brief instructions for passengers. Currently this service is only available for passengers of domestic flights served from airport Sheremetyevo’s D terminal. Later this service will also be available at other Russian and foreign airports, reported the press-centre of Aeroflot.

The image on the cell phone screen is a boarding pass. However, according to the security rules effective in Russian airports, the passenger has to independently print out the paper boarding pass by pressing the cell phone screen to an optic scanner installed before the special control.

After the boarding pass is stamped at the special control, it should be kept till the end of boarding to aircraft. If required, it may also be submitted to the accounting department.

Mobile registration begins 24 hours and ends 1 hour 30 minute prior to departure.

Similar to Internet check-in, in checking in by means of cell phone, the passenger may independently select seats in aircraft.
