OREANDA-NEWS. August 05, 2010. Baltic Stevedoring Company Llc. (of Novorossiysk Commercial Sea Port Group) started in August construction of a container terminal at the cargo-passenger ferry terminal (CPFT) in the basin N3 of Baltiysk town (seaport of Kaliningrad), the Rosmorport’s Kaliningrad branch said.

The first-phase project includes renovation of CPFT’s facilities leased by BSC. Then the stevedore will start reconstruction of Pier N1 of the cargo / passenger ferry terminal for installing container cranes and building a new 200-m-long birth with the depths at the berth 10,5 meters.

In accordance with the project design, the capacity of the terminal will amount to 400,000 TEUs a year. The terminal will be able to accommodate container ships with a capacity of up to 1200 TEUs, with length up to160 meters, breadth - 26 meters and with a maximum draft of 8.5 meters.

The construction of the terminal is expected to be completed in 2013.

Baltic Stevedoring Company Llc. is part of the NCSP Group specializing in container handling, providing services for cargo storage and ships mooring. The BSC’s container terminal at port of Baltiysk (Kaliningrad region) is focuses on container shipments between Russia and Germany exclusively for the domestic market. The company currently does not compete with container stevedoring companies of the Port of St. Petersburg.
