OREANDA-NEWS. August 10, 2010. As compared with the same period of 2009, it has increased by USD20,63 million, or by 4%. According to the National Bank of Moldova, in January-June 2010, about USD 452,02 million, or 84,4% of the total remittances for this period were sent through the fast money transfers systems.

Total remittances in June 2010 amounted to USD 110,32 million, exceeding the indicators of the same period of 2009 (USD 109,48 million) by USD 0,84 million, or by 0,8%. The volume of remittances in January 2010 totaled to USD 63,22 million, in February - USD 72,47 million, in March - USD 97,67 million, in April - USD 95,23 million, in May - USD 96,44 million. 50,7% of all remittances in January-June 2010 accounted for USD, 39,9% - for EUR and 9,4% - for RUB.

As it was reported before, the volume of remittances to Moldova from individuals from abroad through the commercial banks in 2009 amounted to USD 1 billion 182,02 million, down compared with 2008 by USD 478,07 million, or by 28,8%.

At the same time, USD 982,23 million, or 83,1% of the total remittances were sent through the fast money transfer systems. In the structure of remittances in 2009 about 54,1% accounted for USD, 40,6% - for EUR and 5,3% - for RUB. The largest amounts were sent from Russia and Italy. According to the World Bank, the Moldovan guest workers’ remittances make up about one third of Moldova’s GDP.
