OREANDA-NEWS. August 10, 2010. President Alexander Lukashenko has given the task to Semyon Shapiro, Chairman of Grodno Region Executive Committee, to ensure that all companies of Grodno Region become cost-effective by the end of this quarter.

The meeting has paid attention to the problem of loss-making enterprises in Grodno Region, which number has halved in the past two months. According to the President there is a need for intensifying the work aimed at helping businesses become more cost-effective and raise salaries.
Alexander Lukashenko has given a range of other tasks to Semyon Shapiro, for example to oversee the construction of livestock buildings in rural areas, financing of the construction-in-progress projects and matters concerning other areas of life of the region.

The governor has also informed the President that Grodno Region has produced the first million tonnes of grain during the present harvest. The Head of State has expressed concern that the region is lagging behind the other regions of the republic in terms of the speed of harvest. Semyon Shapiro has said he expects the amount of grain gathered this year in Grodno Region to be no smaller than the amount of grain collected in the region last year. ‘We will definitely deliver one and a half million tonnes of grain,’ he said.
