OREANDA-NEWS. August 11, 2010. FESCO Transportation Group summed up operating results for the 1H 2010. During the reporting period the volume of sea container shipping grew by 58% and amounted to 160,318 TEU, against 101,261 TEU in the 1H 2009.

Intermodal volumes increased more than 3,6 times and amounted to 20,632 TEU, versus 5,599 TEU in the same period in 2009. The volume of freight forwarding services amounted to 32,186 TEU, a 33% increase over the previous year (24,251 TEU). Reefer cargo transportation increased by 2.6%, reaching 20,684 TEU.

Rail turnover of industrial goods increased by 52% and amounted to 94 million ton-kilometers. The volume of rail container increased more than 4 times and reached 84,741 TEU.

The volume of container handling in NCC terminals (FCT and NUTEP) amounted to 619,601 TEU, which is 32% higher than in the previous period. Vladivostok Container Terminal processed 134,050 TEU, demonstrating growth of 54.6% against the 1H 2009. Growth in break-bulk cargo handling by Vladivostok Commercial Sea Port increased by 27.5% and reached to 3.4 million tons, against 2.6 million tons in the previous period.

According to the President and Chairman of FESCO Sergei Generalov, "Results of the FESCO Group in the first six months significantly exceeded our internal targets. This confident growth dynamics reflect recovery rates of the Russian economy and the growth of international trade, in particular with the countries of Southeast Asia, especially China".
