OREANDA-NEWS. August 16, 2010. Sibirtelecom OJSC in Kemerovo region carries out in full pelt the works on “Construction of xDSL Broadband Access in Rural Districts” project. 

In 2010 it is planned to install new domestic equipment produced by Eltex in several rural areas in Kemerovo Region, which will make it possible to provide Internet and IR-TV service to a personal computer.  Over 50 Kuzbass settlements will have Internet access by the end of the third quarter. Internet will also come to schools and houses of people living in these districts.

“We are glad to know that the advanced information technologies come to rural areas that are remote from big cities,” says Aleksandr Reikhert, Deputy General Director, Director of Kemerovo Branch. “Information technologies are implemented in the educational processes, makes it possible to develop a younger generation of our country. Now any pupil from a rural district can use Internet and obtain any information.”

Over 6 mln rubles have been allocated to implement this program. It will provide a guaranteed Internet access to 2,300 people from settlements.

As for the payment for using Internet network, the rural subscribers will be offered a “Social “tariff plan at the cost of 100 rubles that provides an access to Internet resources at a speed of 64 Kbit/s.  Also they can choose among the Webstream tariff plans to have a faster Internet access.
