OREANDA-NEWS. August 19, 2010.  Uralmashplant has performed testing of two 125-t vertical traverses designed for Kudankulam Nuclear power plant (India). This covered carrying capacity testing of traverse with 157-t load that exceeds nominal load capacity by 25%. In addition, the testing has proved operability of all units and traverse conformance to technical documentation requirements.

The manufactured equipment has been designed and developed by JSC NPO  "VNIIPTMASH" (the chief designer for cranes in the Russian Federation).

The traverses are designed for operations with containers with fresh and spent nuclear fuel and are to be used with full-swing traveling cranes at the reactor sections of power-generating blocks No.1 and No.2. Each traverse has 5,5 tons in weight and complies with the requirements for reliability, safety and seismic stability.

At present Uralmashplant manufactures one traverse with 125-t load capacity. The traverse is designed for trestle crane and is to be shipped by September 2010.

All in all Uralmashplant has manufactured two full-swing traveling cranes of 350+190/32 load capacity, two trestle cranes of the same load capacity, 30/5-t crane for fresh nuclear fuel storage, two MPS-V-412 refueling machines of a new generation. As of today, the cranes are mounted and demonstrate fault-free operation at construction of nuclear power plant; the refueling machine of power-generating block No.1 is put into commission for nuclear fuel reactor-charge.
