OREANDA-NEWS. August 23, 2010.  The director general of the state-run grain market operator, United Grain Company (UGC), Sergei Levin made a presentation at a meeting dedicated to the future development of the grain market, held August 19 in the Agriculture Ministry. The meeting was attended by several regional governors an, large grain producers and the leading grain consumers: poultry and pork producers.

Levin talked of the current situation on the grain market and possible stabilization measures than may be taken by UGC. He also reported on the company’s scheduled actions on the domestic grain market, top-priority for UGC, after the grain export embargo has been introduced.

The company was recommended to go into the issue of grain shipments from grain-producing regions to poultry and pork manufacturers. In addition, meeting participants were recommended to inform the largest grain producers about UGC’s ability to transmit nearly 200 000 tons of grain per month. UGC was advised to define the minimum surcharge on grain shipping services.
