OREANDA-NEWS. August 26, 2010. A delegation from JSC FGC UES headed by the Chairman of Management board Oleg Budargin visited substation 220 kV Dagomys, substations 110 kV Laura and Roza Khutor in the Sochi region. During the visit the delegation has examined electric grid objects, aimed to provide power supply to Olympic objects, and has evaluated completed works in construction and reconstruction of the substations mentioned.

JSC FGC UES is performing designing, construction and reconstruction of 21 electric grid objects in Sochi region, aimed for power supply during the Winter Olympic games 2014. Works are performed in strict compliance with the approved schedule.

At the moment main construction works have been completed at substations 110 kV Laura and Roza Khutor. These power grid objects are aimed for power supply to constructed Olympic objects – a ski center, snowboard center, as well as object in communication and engineering infrastructure, aimed for servicing the Winter Olympic Games in 2014. Power supply of new power objects shall be performed from substation 220 kv Psou, its capacity by the end of 2010, as a result of reconstruction, shall increase from 300 to 400 MVA.

The reconstruction of substation 220 kV Dagomys (Krasnodarskiy kray) has been held from 2008. Within the modernization program the outmoded substation equipment shall be completely replaced with modern equivalent items. After reconstruction is complete, the transformation capacity of the substation shall increase from 275 MVA to 400 MVA. The works shall increase also the reliability of power supply to 235 resort and hotel places in Sochi region, including the vacation hotel “Olympiyskiy-Dagomys”.

Innovative technical solutions are widely applied by JSC FGC UES in works at power objects with “Olympic” importance. The new substations shall be connected by underground cable lines with insulation made of sewed polyethylene – ecologic, safe and reliable in operation. Application of Secondary Distribution Switchgears will allow for significant reduction in the square of substations and will make their operation noiseless. A closed room where Secondary Distribution Switchgears are installed shall minimize influence of the equipment on the environment, and shall fully protect the environment against external environmental loads. Besides, the new substations shall be equipped with an automated system to control technological processes and video monitoring systems.
