OREANDA-NEWS. August 26, 2010. Net foreign assets of the Belarusian government and National Bank of Belarus (NBB) amounted to USD 4.98 billion as of August 1, 2010, up 1.5% in January-July, the National Bank of Belarus told.

The increase was due to a fall in gross foreign assets by 0.5% in January-July to USD 5.885 billion and a 10.1% decrease in liabilities to USD 905.1 million as of August 1, 2010.

Net foreign assets placed in hard currency amounted to USD 4.7 billion as of August 1, 2010, while soft currency assets were at the equivalent of USD 280 million.

In 2009, Belarus’ net foreign assets increased 53.3% to USD 4.908 billion.
