OREANDA-NEWS. August 27, 2010. The Gomeltransneft Druzhba pipeline operator plans to increase the capacity of its crude oil tank farm to 500,000 cubic meters in the coming years.

The Mozyr production and control station there has 24 crude oil tanks of various capacities, which total 350,000 cubic meters. Two new tanks with a capacity of 50,000 cubic meters will be commissioned next month.

Preparations are underway for the construction of two more tanks. The new tanks will meet modern environmental standards and safety requirements. The old tanks will be phased out. These measures will bring the crude oil tank farm up to date and significantly increase its capacity.

According to the standards, to ensure the smooth operation of the oil pipeline system, the oil stocks should be equal to the volume of oil transported through the pipeline within a day and a half. Considering the fact that 220,000-240,000 tonnes of oil are pumped through the Belarusian section of the Druzhba transnational oil and gas transportation system every day, these stocks should be equal to 330,000-360,000 tonnes.
