OREANDA-NEWS. August 27, 2010. New types of panne velvet are designed and manufactured at the factory in Ruhabat Etrap in Ahal Velayat producing this silk fabric that is in popular demand on domestic and international markets. The ceremony of putting this supermodern facility that extended the infrastructure of Turkmen textile industry into operation took place with the participation of President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov in October 2008. The project for construction and putting into operation of the first factory producing panne velvet in the country became a critical step to develop the silk industry that is being brought to a qualitatively new level through using vast opportunities and profound potential.

As is known, the issues regarding technology modernization and development of the textile industry were put on the agenda of the special working meeting held by the Turkmen leader this month. During this meeting the national leader specified the priority tasks and immediate measures to be taken in this field. These include intensification of the work to enhance the potential of the sector, increase in return of substantial investments allocated by the state, modernization of production infrastructure and expansion of output and a range of textile products able to compete on the world market.

In the epoch of new Revival and fundamental reforms the textile industry as one of the very promising export-oriented sectors of Turkmen economy has gained the priority status. This concerns upgrading of existing facilities and building new production complexes supplied with state-of-the-art equipment, strengthening the raw materials base and strengthening the capacity of textile including silk production. In particular, during the aforesaid meeting President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov instructed to submit the proposals on promotion of silk industry in the country and ensure the effective operation of the factory producing panne velvet.

In this regard manufacture of new kinds of panne velvet is a business return on the active support provided by the Turkmen leader for the silk industry that has the centuries-old glorious traditions in Turkmenistan. State-of-the-art equipment and advanced technologies applied at the panne velvet factory in Ruhabat Etrap enable to manufacture fabric meeting international standards. Today, the factory manufactures over 40 types of panne velvet and goods this fabric that are bought in the Altyn Asyr shopping centre of the Ministry of Textile Industry in Ashgabat. New types of Turkmen panne velvet are on sale already.

It should be noted that Turkmen panne velvet that is in popular demand on domestic market has good prospects as an export product. Also, the demand for this beautiful fabric is a powerful impetus for Turkmen specialists to improve the quality and broaden a range of products.
