OREANDA-NEWS. September 22, 2010. The machine stock of Baltic Container Terminal has been expanded by the new self-propelled port crane LIEBHERR LHM-400. The crane that was delivered on board of the specialist ship "Condock V" from Tartous in Syria will be used mainly for handling over-dimensional goods and heavy goods weighting up to 100 tons. BCT has broaden the range of services rendered to the customers by the "project cargo" operations, both import and export.

"The new crane was a very necessary investment that has expanded the handling potential of the terminal and is just one more step taken in order to satisfy the increasing needs of our customers." - says Krzysztof Szymborski, Chairman of the Board of BCT - "We have observed for quite some time now, that the number of Project requiring application of special equipment or technology by the terminals is constantly growing due to the need for carrying heavy and over-dimensional structures by sea. The development of technology and the investments in such industries as power engineering or chemical industry indicate that the demand for handling services concerning even bigger and heavier structure shall grow. The self-propelled crane that we have just bought shall allow for handling of such kind of operations."

Following the commissioning of the quay crane, the Baltic Container Terminal is completely ready for rendering new services. Having 8.500 m2 square adjusted for storage of heavy and over-dimensional goods, convenient exit and entrance from and to the terminal - both road and railway, direct connection with the national transport network as well as experienced staff offering project approach to the handling of this type of loads  - all of these things constitute additional strengths of BCT.
