OREANDA-NEWS. September 22, 2010. Liebherr Container Cranes LTD will build two new Container Handling and Stacking Cranes for Commercial Port of Vladivostok (CPV). Total contract amount is more than EURO 8 million. New cranes are slated to come into operation in the 4Q of 2011.

According to Yury Pirozhenko, Chief Engineer of CPV, new container cranes with the lifting capacity of 45 tonnes each have been acquired within the expansion project of container handling facilities at berths 14-15. Span of each crane - 63 m, outreach - 15 m. New cranes will enable the port to handle containers stowed 22-wide on yard. Cranes will be constructed by Liebherr in Europe and delivered to Vladivostok by a specialized vessel.

Works on modernization of container handling facilities at berths 14-15 started in 2007. The 1-st phase of the project was completed in the end of 2008 - new terminal based on berth 15 was entered into operation with designed container handling capacity of 100,000TEU. At present the terminal specializes in handling containers of 5 shipping lines including Maersk Line and KMTC Line.
For the 8 months of 2010 the terminal handled 32,544TEU.
