OREANDA-NEWS. September 23, 2010. On September 8, during the 6th Baikal economic forum in Irkutsk, JSC Irkutskenergo and JSC Gazprombank signed the agreement on the preliminary conditions of the construction of heat pump system (HPS) with the capacity of 1.25 Gcalh and of accompanying infrastructure at the Baikalsk CHPP production site. This is the pilot project of the company in the area of clean technologies of Baikalsk energy supply. HPS for the heat production and supply into the town will use the drain water of Baikalsk sewage treatment plants. The decision on the installation of the HPS in Baikalsk and including it into the town’s heating system inflow scheme was made during the search of eco-friendly heat sources. The HPS project is realized by JSC Irkutskenergo accompanied by Finnish companies Scancool and Avanko Capital and with the support of Dmitry Mezentsev, the Irkutsk region governor.

Evgeny Fedorov, CEO of JSC Irkutskenergo: ”This is the first stage of the socially significant project for the Irkutsk region. It is planned to be finished before the start of the 2011 heating season. When this pilot project is tested in Baikalsk, its realization will be possible in other towns of the region”.
