DTEK Appoints Director of External Affairs
OREANDA-NEWS. September 29, 2010. DTEK, Ukraine’s leading fuel and energy company, today announces the appointment of Alexander Tolkach as Director of External Affairs. DTEK’s external affairs directorate encompasses four divisions: public relations, investor relations, international affairs and corporate social responsibility.
Before joining DTEK, Tolkach was Director of the External Affairs Department at Mechel (NYSE:MTL), the Russian industrial group, with operations in the mining, metallurgy, ferroalloy and energy sectors.
Commenting on Alexander’s appointment, Maxim Timchenko, CEO of DTEK, said:
“Operating DTEK’s external relations function from within a separate business division demonstrates that open and regular communications with our stakeholders is a core strategic commitment for the Company. Progressing our long-term strategic aims, including gaining greater access to international markets, furthering our active business development programme and participation in Ukraine’s forthcoming privatization processes, all require DTEK to communicate clearly and openly in maintain its position as a market leader, which has the capability to deliver significant value to shareholders and partners alike.
“Alexander’s role will include working with DTEK’s strategy and operational teams to develop the Company’s plans to integrate further with the wider European energy industry, exploration of new communication avenues with our international partners and maintaining DTEK’s market leading corporate disclosure, including promotion of the highest global standards of transparency and clarity.”
Alexander Tolkach added: “I’m very excited to be joining DTEK. Alexander Tolkach was born in 1977. He graduated in 1999 from the Moscow State Institute of International Relations (University) MFA Russia with a degree in International Relations. From 1999 to 2004 he served in the diplomatic service in a Division of NATO, the EAPC and the WEU's of Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation and later he was an Attachй at the Permanent Mission of Russia to the OSCE (Vienna, Austria). From 2004 he worked at Mechel, where he progressed from PR manager to director of external relations department.
