OREANDA-NEWS. September 29, 2010. During the current Baku visit a delegation led by Oscar Perez Oliva, deputy minister of foreign trade and foreign investments of Cuba, is actively pushing through co-operation between Cuba and Azerbaijan in oil and gas industry.

Mr. Perez has claimed that bilateral talks on oil and gas collaboration cover a great deal of issues but the concrete ones will be determined after our current visit.

"At the same time we have not held negotiations with the State Oil Company of Azerbaijan (SOCAR) yet," he added.

SOCAR is now engaged in active operations in the western hemisphere. In particular, currently the Company supplies crude oil and petroleum products to the U.S. and Canada and in the prospect can begin delivery of liquefied gas. SOCAR has not operations concerning production or processing of oil and gas in the western hemisphere where Cuba is situated. However, the situation can change sharply.

“Today SOCAR is not the one like 10 years ago," claimed earlier SOCAR first vice president Khoshbakht Yusifzadeh.
