OREANDA-NEWS. October 04, 2010. VEB to Invest 198 Million Rubles in the Charter Capital of Russia’s Leading Supercomputers Manufacturer “T-Platforma”

Vnesheconombank is to invest 198 million rubles in the charter capital of Russia’s leading supercomputers manufacturer “T-Platforma”. VEB Chairman Vladimir Dmitriev told about it. According to him, at the today’s Supervisory Board meeting they discussed an issue of participating in and financing a project to expand output capacity of Russia’s supercomputers manufacturer and ensure its entrance to foreign markets. Dmitriev elaborated that the company would be involved in developing software and design of supercomputers.

He said that the company “T-Platforma” had participated in creating the Lomonosov supercomputer, which is installed in MGU and is among the world’s ten largest supercomputers. “We are entering this company’s capital having a clear idea of withdrawing from the capital but this will allow the company both to start a large-scale production in Russia and strengthen its positions abroad”, said Dmitriev. He added that even now the company had contracts for its own development of supercomputers for customers from Germany and Singapore.

Speaking at VEB’s Supervisory Board meeting, Russian Prime Minister Putin said that Vnesheconombank would engage in supporting the production of Russian supercomputers.

“VEB is planning to participate in the development and export sales  of Russian supercomputers manufacturing technologies, which will be in demand in nuclear power engineering and even in space sector”, said Putin.
