OREANDA-NEWS. October 07, 2010. A conference titled “The current state and future development of ammonia production: scientific discoveries and modernization technologies” began at EuroChem’s Nevinnomysskiy Azot plant.

The conference was organized by the Russian Union of Chemists and the INFOCHEM international scientific information company. One hundred twenty specialists representing leading chemical factories, specialized research institutes, and companies manufacturing specialized equipment from Russia, CIS and the Baltic Region countries are attending the conference.

This is the second time that Nevinnomyssky Azot is hosting professional chemists to meet and share experience in the modern chemical industry. This time, the site was chosen thanks to the plant’s 1B and 1C ammonia shops.  Launched in 1973 and 1976 respectively, they were among the largest of their kind in the Soviet Union, producing 450,000 tons of ammonia every year. After reconstruction works, their producing capacity rose to 1,700 tons a day, which is the highest capacity among similar facilities in post-Soviet countries.

The conference will feature presentations on the following topics: “Energy efficiency of ammonia producing plants working on natural gas” (HALDОR – TOPSOE), “Latest generation of ammonia synthesis reactors” (Ammonia Casale), “New scientific developments for nitrogen and nitrogen compound industry” (Angarsky Catalyst and Organic Synthesis Plant), “Equipment for production and compression of oxygen, nitrogen and other gases applied in main ammonia-producing processes” (Premium Engineering) and others.
